How to Use Chained Plans for Sliding Scale Commission Plans
If you are an admin, you may want to use chained plans for sliding scale commission plans. This feature allows you to automatically switch your agents to different commission plans at the end of their commission period, depending on what tier they end in. This way, you can save time and effort by not having to manually manage your agents’ commission plans.
Please be aware that Chained plans only support the following sliding scale periods:
Year to date
Month to date
Since last anniversary
Custom Range
Also, the activity logs for chained plan advancement will be recorded on behalf of the account owner.
To use chained plans for sliding scale commission plans, follow these steps:
Go to Commission Plans and create or edit a sliding scale commission plan.
When you add multiple tiers to your sliding scale commission plan, you will see a Chained plans tab under the current commission plan details on the right.
Click on the Chained plans tab to expand the section, then click enable chained plans
When enabled, you will see the same tiers from the split modal. The tier/split information is read-only here and cannot be edited.
There will be a Select plan column to the left of the tier/split info. This column lets you choose a different commission plan per tier if desired (not required). This defaults to an option called to stay on current plan.
Select the commission plan that you want to switch your agents to for each tier. You can choose from any of the existing commission plans in your system, or create a new one.
Save your changes and confirm the chained plans.
When you use chained plans for sliding scale commission plans, the system will automatically switch your agents to the new commission plan at the end of their commission period, based on what tier they end in.
For example, if an agent ends in tier 1, they will be switched to the commission plan that you selected for tier 1. If an agent ends in tier 2, they will be switched to the commission plan that you selected for tier 2, and so on.
If there is no commission plan designated for a tier, or if the agent is not on a sliding scale commission plan, they will restart the current commission plan as normal.
