How to enable secondary approval for tasks

Require two levels of approval for sensitive tasks to meet compliance requirements and reduce risk.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

BoldTrail BackOffice allows you to require two levels of approval for sensitive tasks to meet compliance requirements and reduce risk.

Secondary approval adds an extra review step to your task workflow. When enabled, tasks must be approved by two different people before they're marked as complete.

How it works:

  1. Agent submits task for review

  2. First approver reviews and approves

  3. Task automatically moves to the second approver

  4. The second approver gives final approval

How to set up secondary approval for a task

Step 1: Enable secondary approval for specific tasks

  1. Navigate to Checklists > selected task > Add task / Edit task

  2. On the Requires document, enable "secondary approval"

  3. Save your changes

Step 2: Assign secondary approval permissions

Give specific users permission to perform secondary approvals:

  1. Go to Users > specific user > Permissions block

  2. Enable "Can second level approve documents"

  3. Save changes

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the same person do both approvals?

No. The system requires two different users for the first and second approval.

What happens if someone rejects at the second stage? The task returns to the agent who submitted it, just like a first-stage rejection.

Can I require secondary approval for some tasks but not others? Yes. Secondary approval is configured per task type, so you can enable it only where needed.
